Dengue and its prevention.

Dengue is the name of disease caused by the biting of mosquito named as Aides. It is a man-made disease. In previous days we all had heard quite about the rising fever cases caused by the rising Dengue mosquitoes in India. Out of 36 states and union territories, 35 are reported to be affected by this disease. In this post, I will explain you about the way it spreads and how to cure it and how it can be prevented from spreading and other information related to this disease.

Dengue virus is spread by biting of Aides. This mosquito usually spread in monsoon season especially during November and December. The reason behind this is that temperature of surroundings is mosquito friendly during monsoon. Dengue mosquitoes take birth in clean water rather than dirty water. These mosquitoes attack during morning and evening time.

Symptoms of dengue are high fever, low pulse pressure, sudden headache, pain in joints, pain in throat, sore taste of mouth, physical weakness, continuous vomiting and presence of blood in urine and vomit, etc.   If any of the symptoms are found in you, then first step you should take is that you should consult your doctor and then go for a laboratory test called as NS1.

Prevention is better than cure. This fact perfectly fits about this disease. During rainfall in monsoon season, water gets collected in pots, containers, tyres, pits etc. And then mosquitoes breed in this clean water. So first preventive measure we must take is cleaning of our surrounding. We must take care of our surroundings. Make sure that there are no such things lying outside where water can get collected. Water in pots for birds and animals should be changed regularly.

Another important fact you must know is that “there is no vaccination available for dengue”. Hence prevention is the best available in case of this disease. Small and simple steps like wearing full sleeves shirts, putting mosquito net on windows and doors, using mosquito repellent cream can help you from getting away from this disease. And if possible avoid going outside during evening time.

But, what to do if you or someone in your family is exposed to this infection. Do not worry much as panic may cause some other complications. 90% of patients can be corrected at home only by following doctor’s advice. I asked many doctors, “Where to get the treatment if someone is suffering from dengue fever”? And believe me they all said the same statement. In this way you can decrease the rush in hospitals also. Diabetic and heart patients  are more vulnerable to this disease and need more care than other patients suffering from dengue  and therefore hospitals must be left for them.

And now the two most important points about curing dengue are following:-

1.)    Stop the vomiting of the patient and
2.)     Patient must drink large quantity of water as much as possible (you can also mix ORS in water).
These two points are worth noting because dehydration is possible in patients of dengue and there must be complete hydration of water in patient’s body to fight this infection.

Some other important points are feeding the patient’s healthy food such as Dalia, fruits, etc.  , maintaining the hydration in patient’s body, feeding him food in fluid form, giving him eatables that can be digested easily etc.

Dengue viruses decrease the quantity of platelets in the blood of patient’s body. They attack the blood constituents such as meteorite, platelets and haemoglobin. They reduce the concentration of platelets and meteorite. To cover this loss, take medicines prescribed by doctor. But there are always home-made remedies in India for every disease. And this is no different. Yes some home-made remedies still works in this disease. Many of traditional herbs have been found to ease complications and recovery. Among these are Papaya leaf, Giloe and Tulsi. Anecdotal evidence suggests that the extract of raw Papaya leaf helps to boost platelets and relieve symptoms. Recent studies have shown the effect of Papaya leaf consists of over 50 active ingredients found to kill fungi, worms, parasite, bacteria and many forms of cancer cells. For dengue fever, it is suggested that the Papaya juice is extracted by crushing and sieving fresh leaves of Papaya. One leaf of Papaya gives about 1 tablespoon of juice. 2 tablespoons of Papaya leaf juice are given to dengue patients 3 times per day after six-hour intervals. Giloe, also known as Guduchi, has been reported to help treat dengue in early stages without any side effects. It increases the platelets in a significant manner and lower the body temperature. Tulsi, the queen of herbs has been regarded as one of the holiest and most cherished herbs by virtue of its health promoting and healing properties.

There is also another remedy of treating dengue patients i.e. drinking of goat’s milk. It is also regarded as a way to cure dengue patients. But strictly speaking it is not true. There is no scientific report that proves goat’s milk helps in curing dengue patients. I consulted doctors about this fact and they all said that do not try to indulge in such a practice and rather consult a doctor to cure dengue.
And now the precautions are that do not give patient medicines such as Aspirin, Dychlorophenyl etc. But patient can take Paracetamol in case of fever.

And I still suggest that we all should first consult our doctor if we found any of the dengue symptoms.

26/11/2008 MUMBAI ATTACK

Tomorrow 26/11/2012 will be the fourth anniversary of 26/11/2008 attack on Mumbai. That day spread deep darkness in India. People of India were afraid of terrorism that day. But the time had changed. Nobody cares for nobody. The places where terrorists attacked were very crowded areas but after the attack that places become silent. But people show a great respect for Indian army, police and other defence agencies and trusted them that it will not happen again and the areas which were attacked were seen crowded after a few days again. And on 22-11-2012 he was hanged or sentenced as order by Supreme Court and after the Indian President rejected his mercy petition. He was hanged to death very secretly and operation was named “X”. HARVESTING DIVERTED WATER - An Innovative Idea and Inspiration For Others.

A success story written at Sinising located in Odisha(India) by farmers and a voluntary organisation named as Institute of Social Action and Research Activities(ISARA).   Now a days, people of this tiny village are happy a lot because even as the scare of drought looms large over several parts of the State, people are still able to irrigate their land. This is made possible only by using water from the continually recurring streams originating from the hill adjacent to the small village. A farmer in Odhisa working in his fields All of   this started around three years ago probably in 2012 when Institute of Social Action and Research Activities(ISARA) with help and support from Mennonite Central Committee, started the diversion-based irrigation system(DBIS) on their(residents of village) land. In this system, water originating from perennial (continually recurring) hill stream is brought to their land. Earlier, water from the perennial streams was going waste ...
